The Curse! Pre-Workout Review
This is our JNX Sports The Curse! pre-workout review.
JNX Sports is a supplement company that sells just three products.
These are:
- The Curse! (Pre-Workout)
- The Shadow! (Intense Pre-Workout)
- The Ripper! (Fat Burner)
The Curse! is a pre-workout I’ve tried many times in the past, mostly on my travels when nothing else seemed to be available. It comes in ten different flavors, and I’ve tested at least 3 or 4 of those flavors before.
The Curse! Review
In this review of The Curse!, we’re going to be covering the following aspects:
- Tub size/servings
- Scoop size
- Ingredients
- Flavors
- Price
- Where to Buy
- Value
- Effectiveness
- Alternatives
- Summary
Important Information
Before we get into the big stuff like the ingredients, prices, flavors, and effectiveness; let’s quickly cover some important information on servings, product weight, and potential supplement stacks.
Tub Size/Servings
A single tub of The Curse! has a net weight of 250g, and there are 50 servings inside. This is a lot more than the usual pre-workout product, however, given the serving size, doubling up is pretty much essential.
Scoop Size
A single serving of The Curse! weighs 5g, which is a strong indicator that the product is well under-dosed. In my opinion, they should have halved the serving count, and made each serving 10g instead.
The Curse! Ingredients/Supplement Facts
Unfortunately, The Curse! uses blends and does not provide full 100% label transparency. This is a big disappointment as we can’t see the exact dosages of each ingredient individually.
Instead, we can only see three blends, and the total quantity per blend.
All we can really do for this is list each blend below and the ingredients it contains:
Energizing Muscle Fuel Blend – 3000mg
This blend contains the following ingredients:
- Beta-Alanine
- Creatine Monohydrate
- Citric Acid
Beta-alanine is a popular pre-workout ingredient for all the wrong reasons. People believe that some of the side effects, such as flushed skin, mean that the ingredient is working. Beta-alanine has been studied, and the studies show that a loading phase of 179g over 28 days is essential for performance improvements.
Even if the beta-alanine was dosed at 3000mg on its own, this still wouldn’t be anywhere near enough.
Creatine is also underdosed even at 3000mg on its own. Given this formula, I’d imagine they just stuck 1g of creatine inside.
Amplifier Blend – 900mg
This blend contains the following ingredients:
- L-Citrulline
- L-Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate
The use of L-citrulline in pre-workouts is very common and for good reason. However, 900mg for both L-citrulline and L-arginine is ridiculous. You could quadruple this dosage, and it still wouldn’t reach the ‘clinically effective’ dosage.
Mind Control Matrix – 157mg
This blend contains the following ingredients:
- Caffeine Anhydrous – 155mg
- Olive Leaf Extract
The caffeine content is the one ingredient that has to have its dosage listed, so you can see they’ve included a small quantity of caffeine and 2mg of olive leaf extract.
If you were to double up the dose, you’d be getting 310mg of caffeine, which is considered to be high-stim.
Flavor Options
The Curse! is available in ten different flavors, and this is actually the part of the product that they produced very well. I love the flavoring, and I’ve tried at least 3 or 4 of the flavors myself.
My favorite flavor is Pina Colada, and I’ve also tried out the Green Apple, Lemon Rush, and Blue Raspberry.
Here’s a list of all the current flavor options for The Curse!:
- Dark Grape
- Green Apple
- Orange Mango
- Pineapple Shred
- Pina Colada
- Peach Rings
- Blue Raspberry
- Lemon Rush
- Watermelon
- Fruit Punch
Price
Now we’ve covered all the important information about the product itself, let’s talk about the cost.
The price of The Curse! is roughly $27.99 for 50 servings. It’s cheap for a pre-workout, contains double the usual serving amount, but the formula is terrible. If you doubled up the servings, the caffeine content would be great, but because we don’t know the exact dosages of the other ingredients included, it would be unwise to do so.
Where can you buy The Curse!?
You can buy The Curse! on Amazon in every single flavor.
Effectiveness
JNX Sports make some crazy statements when marketing their products. The product page states 3 things:
- Savage intensity*
- Huge Muscle Pumps*
- Extreme Mental Focus*
The formula contradicts all of these statements, and when taking the product I felt some slight stimulation and energy, but nothing else.
It’s not very effective given the current formula and serving guidelines. If they become transparent about the individual ingredient dosages, people could potentially double up the servings, and get more benefit from using it.
The Curse! Pre-Workout Alternatives
If you’re looking for a pre-workout that gets the job done, provides huge pumps, high energy, and great focus, we’d recommend using Wrecked Pre-Workout by Huge Nutrition instead.

Summary
So where does The Curse! stack up as a pre-workout?
Somewhere near the bottom of the pile. There’s no label transparency, crazy marketing claims, and an under-dosed formula. You’d probably see more benefits in the gym from drinking G-Fuel.
My recommendation to JNX Sports is to half the serving count, and tweak the formula. That would at least make it much more effective at almost no extra cost for the manufacturer.
